No two learners are the same. Some understand quickly through verbal explanation, while others may need more time, repetition, visual support or a practical example.
When a child struggles, our first thought should not simply be “They aren’t trying.” Instead, we should ask ourselves: “Is there another way I can help them understand?”
In the Classroom:
• Get to know how your pupils learn and where they struggle.
• Be willing to explain something in a different way.
• Avoid comparing one learner’s progress to another.
• Remember that needing additional support does not mean lacking ability.
Allah Ta’ala says: “Allah does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear.” (Al-Baqarah 2:286)
Islam recognises that people have different capacities and capabilities. As educators, this reminds us to recognise the individual needs of our learners and to teach with wisdom, patience and understanding.
